AWGP YOUTH Camp 2010 – Washington DC area, July 11th – July 16th

 
Topics for each day
Sunday July 11th 2010: Youth Vision 2020

 
This session will introduce the youth to thinking about the coming year 2011 – the birth centenary of Gurudev. Further, they will have an opportunity to get insight into the youth programs for the next 10 years. What will this world look like and what will be the role of our current youth 10 years later?  We will develop this vision through discussions and input.
 
Monday July 12th 2010: Global Warming

 
This issue is one of the most current and relevant topic to discuss with the youth of today. Shortage of clean water, clean air, increase carbon emissions and the effect this has on world crop production resulting in food shortages will be discussed in depth. We will discuss gurudev's thought s on world climate and how we can reverse the effects of global warming.
 
Tuesday July 13th 2010: Thought Transformation

 
This concept is the main theme of the Gayatri Pariwar organization. It is the fundamental vision of Gurudev where He strived to revolutionize the thinking process of the masses such as making Gayatri mantra available to all and removing radical thinking in the name of religion to name a few. The youth at the camp will get an opportunity to discuss and identify the nature of their daily thoughts and how they can transform their own thinking to help them build a better life.
 
Wednesday July 14th 2010: Composite Health

 
This topic will cover all aspects of health – physical, mental and spiritual. Youth will be given tips on how they can sustain all areas of health by means of yoga, positive thinking, reading good books and mediation.  We can also discuss various topics of alternate medicine.
 
Thursday July 15th 2010: Inter-religious harmony

 
We will discuss the basis of all the religions that include Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism, Shinto, Persian religion, and Confucius. We will elaborate on the basic Hinduism thought and its liberal concepts in accepting other's faith.
 
Friday July 16th 2010: DSVV and the revolution in education

 
We will discuss the difference of Education and Knowledge where education is defined as mere information whilst knowledge is composed of sanskars and helps identify the inner self. We will take DSVV as a model for how education with knowledge can benefit the world today and help in revolutionizing the world today.

Delivery of the material:
1.     No long lectures – short lectures based on examples
2.     More interactive sessions to illustrate the point of the lecture
3.     Activities – enhance the teaching through activities

d.     Poster competitions
e.     Games
 
Ad. Dr Pandya will prepare a booklet with all the resource material covering daily topics. Youth leaders will be asked to prepare a short lecture and design activities related to the topic to enhance the understanding of the teachings.
